Obamamania

Okay, I’m not a kook. I don’t think this guy is the Antichrist, I don’t think he’s the ruin of America, and I don’t think that he’s a future tyrant. However, I have to admit I find the utter and complete obsession with this guy amazing.

Yes, I recognize that many people are excited about the fact that he is the first black president. I recognize the historical meaning. However, I find myself annoyed at people’s reaction to our new president.

A lot has been said about the obvious media obsession, including this article in the Washington Post which includes the Embarrasing line:

“The sun glinted off chiseled pectorals sculpted during four weightlifting sessions each week, and a body toned by regular treadmill runs and basketball games.”

I would expect that from a fan, or some blog, BUT THE WASHINGTON FREAKIN POST?

Look at this Children’s book

WTF?

Halle Berry (who on an unrelated note is a total fox) is quoted:

“I’ll do whatever he says to do,” actress Halle Berry said to the Philadelphia Daily News. “I’ll collect paper cups off the ground to make his pathway clear.”

George Clooney is a disciple:

“He walks into a room and you want to follow him somewhere, anywhere,”

A performance artist put a statue of Obama on a donkey and laid palm fronds in his path in a sick mockery of the Triumphant entry of Christ into Jerusalem.

Seriously, This country is FUCKING CRAZY!

HE’S JUST THE DAMN PRESIDENT. I hope he does well. I hope he strengthens the country’s economy and keeps us safe from foreign threats, but DAMN.

Damn!

Ranty

I remember a time in my life, when I began to explore music, and forge my own tastes and stylistic preferences apart from those of my parents. I was in my early to mid teens, and I found identity in my music.

Granted like most people that age, image was as important as the actual sound. I never really dressed based on fads (except for the one time I wore black whenever possible), or identified with a social group, but I did label myself by my music. “I like Rock, not that Crappy Pop”. “I’m into Metal” (I didn’t really know what metal was at 14, I don’t think most people do). “I love Emo music” (loosely defined of course). Thing is, I Find it funny to this day, how important it was that I identify with some musical label, while all the while claiming to be part of no clique.

I’m older now, and less worried about what people call my musical tastes, or whether or not people really like it. I readily admit that alongside Metallica, Nirvana, and Stavesacre you’ll find billy Joel and Amy Grant.

It’s funny. That’s pretty much it.

Rant over……

The ‘G’ Word

I have something I need to get off my chest, and have had to do so for some time now. I feel that not only have i been thinking and meditating on the topic, but that I have been impressed upon by God. The issue is this; Christians have mistreated Homosexuals for far too long in the name of God.

Now it is very important that those who read this do not misunderstand. I am not condemning those who believe that Homosexuality is sinful, there is indeed strong passages in Scripture that, depending on interpretation, seen to condemn same sex relations. Christians (and all religious people) should have their freedom of conscience and religion protected. This also extends to the issues of Gay Marriage and Adoption Rights. EVERYONE, liberal or conservative, Religious or Not, should have their right to their beliefs undisturbed.

What I have come to condemn is the atrocious Behavior some Christians have shown towards those in the GLBT community. People often say that Jesus never addressed the topic of Homosexuality, and they are correct, He is never specifically quoted as addressing the topic. However, there are things we know he did say that are relevant to the topic.

The First Comes from The Gospel of Mark:

And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?” Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
(Mar 12:28-31)

We have here two DIRECT commandments from the One whom we Call the I AM. Christ, God Incarnate, Creator of Heaven and Earth, Redeemer and Lord, has given us two commandments above all Others: Love God, and Love Man.

It is important to notice that he did not use the word brother. He is not speaking about loving those who agree with us, or are like us. It is clear by the people he associated with (Prostitutes, Crooked Tax Collectors, and political Rebels (Like Simon The Zealot)) that he did not mean that we should love only the Righteous (Remember, all are Sinners, even the Regenerate). He has Commanded (in no uncertain terms) that we love all men unconditionally. Homosexuals are people, and thus should be treated not only with respect and civility, but Love.

The Second Passage relevant to the topic is from the Gospel of Matthew

“When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne, and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him. Then he will divide them into two groups, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the righteous people at his right and the others at his left. Then the King will say to the people on his right, ‘Come, you that are blessed by my Father! Come and possess the kingdom which has been prepared for you ever since the creation of the world. I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink; I was a stranger and you received me in your homes, naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you took care of me, in prison and you visited me.’ The righteous will then answer him, ‘When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you? When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of mine, you did it for me!’ “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Away from me, you that are under God’s curse! Away to the eternal fire which has been prepared for the Devil and his angels! I was hungry but you would not feed me, thirsty but you would not give me a drink; I was a stranger but you would not welcome me in your homes, naked but you would not clothe me; I was sick and in prison but you would not take care of me.’ Then they will answer him, ‘When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and we would not help you?’ The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you refused to help one of these least important ones, you refused to help me.’ These, then, will be sent off to eternal punishment, but the righteous will go to eternal life.”
(Mat 25:31-46)

It seems clear to me that we will be judged, at least partially, on how we treated our fellow man. Yes, we are called to speak our conscience concerning Sin. If one believes that Homosexuality is a sin, they should be true to their belief. However, note again, that we are being Judged by how we treat other people.

The Relevance of this is clear. What we do to others, we do to Christ. Think about this. What of those Christians who publicly humiliate and assault Homosexuals? They are Publicly Humiliating and Insulting Jesus Christ. When a Christian Makes a comment that gays deserve Aids, they are saying that Christ deserves Aids. When A group of people literally and physically bashes and beats on a gay person, they are literally and physically bashing and beating on Christ.

My request to my Fellow brothers and sisters is simple. I am not asking you to support Gay Marriage. I am not asking you to ordain Homosexuals to serve as ministers in your church. I am not asking you to say that Homosexuality is a valid Lifestyle. I am asking that next time you see or hear about a homosexual, you think not of an evil sinner, not a depraved monster or a silly stereotype, but rather, as a Human being who Christ lived for, died for, and most importantly, Loved.

I leave you with one final thought on this topic. Many Christians Condemn Homosexuals, and mistreat them, because they are believed to live in a state of sin. I remind you of the Scriptures, which points the finger at all of us, and reminds us of our own failures.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.
(1Jn 1:8)

You teach others—why don’t you teach yourself ? You preach, “Do not steal”—but do you yourself steal? You say, “Do not commit adultery”—but do you commit adultery? You detest idols—but do you rob temples? You boast about having God’s law—but do you bring shame on God by breaking his law?
(Rom 2:21-23)

A real and True Update

HAHA! You thought it had died, but no, ye faithful, chained up readers have more moi to feast thyselves on 😀

Oh where to begin. Life is, as always, utterly chaotic for me. Lets start with the biggest news, which is also the baddest…. (Its a word cause i say it is). I decided to take a little breaky, and do a part time term this time around. But, sadly, i found out the other day that i don’t have enough hours for enough financial aid to come through. So i’m scrambling to put together a full time course. It will get done, but I won’t get the break i wanted.

Um, Poor A has lost her doggy. (big hug)

I had a weird dream the night before last.
